Submit business info on Meta (business.facebook.com)
After you connect WhatsApp in Utter, Meta may still need you to finish Business Verification on Meta Business Suite. This is where you enter official company details and upload documents.
About these screenshots Meta’s screens can change slightly over time. The images below are illustrative guides based on the official Meta Business Suite flow so you know what to look for.
Why you need this step
Utter shows verification status inside the app. The actual company review happens on Meta:
| Place | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Utter | Sign up, eligibility, Continue with Meta, see status |
| business.facebook.com | Enter legal business details, upload documents, confirm email/phone/domain |
| WhatsApp Manager | Check WhatsApp account health and add a payment card if required |
Official Meta help:
- Verify your business in Meta Business Suite
- Which documents to upload
- Add a credit card for WhatsApp
Before you start
You need:
- Full control (admin) of the business portfolio created during Utter’s Meta signup
- Legal business name, address, phone, and website — exactly as on official papers
- Clear document scans (PDF/JPG/PNG), not expired
- Access to a business email, phone, or website DNS (for confirmation)
Match everything The #1 rejection reason is mismatch: name/address on Meta ≠ name/address on documents ≠ name on website. Copy details carefully from one source document and use them everywhere.
Step 1 — Open Meta Business Suite
- Go to https://business.facebook.com/
- Log in with the same Facebook/Meta account you used in Utter’s Continue with Meta
- At the top, select the correct business portfolio (your company name)

If you see multiple businesses, pick the one linked during Utter onboarding.
Step 2 — Open Security Center and start verification
- Open Settings (gear icon) → Business settings
- In the left menu, click Security Center
- Find Business verification
- Click Start verification (or Get started / Continue if you started before)

Who can click Start verification? Only people with full control of the business portfolio can start this. If the button is missing, ask your Meta business admin to do it, or request full control.
Alternative path some users see:
Business settings → Business info → Verification status → View details → lands in Security Center.
Step 3 — Enter your legal business details
Meta asks for organization information. Enter details exactly as on your registration certificate:
| Field | Tip |
|---|---|
| Country | Where the business is legally registered |
| Legal business name | Exact legal name (not a marketing nickname) |
| Address | Registered / official mailing address |
| Phone | Business phone that can receive calls/SMS if needed |
| Website | Live website (https), ideally showing the same company name |

Meta may try to match your company in public databases. If it finds a match, you may skip some document uploads. If not, you will upload documents next.
Step 4 — Upload official documents (if asked)
If Meta cannot auto-match your business, upload proof.

Documents Meta commonly accepts
According to Meta’s document guide:
| Document type | Usually proves |
|---|---|
| Certificate / Articles of Incorporation | Legal business name |
| Business registration or license | Legal name + registration |
| Government-issued business tax document (e.g. tax certificate) | Legal name (self-filed tax forms often not accepted) |
| Business bank statement | Name / address support |
| Utility bill | Address and/or phone — only if legal business name is on the bill; not enough alone for legal name in many cases |
Document rules that matter
- Must show legal business name and usually address or phone
- Must be issued by authorities (or bank/utility where allowed)
- Must not be expired
- Upload originals — do not edit, crop out key fields, or alter the file
- Cover sensitive personal IDs (e.g. national ID numbers) if they appear and are not needed
- Preferred formats: PDF, JPG, PNG
- Language: use a supported language; otherwise provide an officially stamped English translation
Step 5 — Confirm you are connected to the business
Choose how Meta should confirm you control the business:

| Method | When to use |
|---|---|
Best if email domain matches your website (e.g. [email protected]) | |
| Phone call / SMS / WhatsApp | If Meta offers it for your listed phone |
| Domain verification | You can add a meta tag or DNS record on your website |
- Choose a method
- Receive the code or complete domain steps
- Enter the code / finish domain confirmation
- Submit
Step 6 — Wait for Meta review
After submit, Security Center shows something like Under review.

- Review can take from minutes up to about 14 business days (often a few days)
- Watch email linked to your Meta account
- Also refresh Security Center and your Utter Verification step
While waiting, keep your website live and do not change legal name/address unless you are ready to re-verify.
Step 7 — Verification approved
When Meta finishes successfully, status becomes Verified.

Then return to Utter → Verification step and refresh. Business Registration / Meta Business Account should move to Verified. Click Let's Go when all three checks pass.
Step 8 — Add a WhatsApp payment method (often required)
Even after verification, WhatsApp messaging usually needs a payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account.
- Open WhatsApp Manager
- Select your WhatsApp Business account
- Go to account / payment settings (paths vary slightly; common path below)
- Click Add payment method
- Add a supported Visa or Mastercard credit card
- Save business/tax info if Meta asks

Typical Meta path (from Meta’s help article):
- WhatsApp Manager → Overview
- Open the account menu (⋯) → Manage account settings
- Settings → Payment settings
- Add payment method → enter card → Save
Meta currently documents Visa/Mastercard for many regions (not always Amex/PayPal). The card should allow online / international charges. Currencies and countries Meta supports can change — follow what the payment screen shows.
If verification is rejected
Meta usually explains why. Fix and resubmit from Security Center.
| Common reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Name doesn’t match documents | Correct Business info to exact legal name; re-upload |
| Address / phone mismatch | Align Meta fields + document + website footer/contact page |
| Documents unclear / expired | Upload clear, current official scans |
| Website invalid or unrelated | Use a live site that shows the same business name |
| Incomplete information | Fill every required field; add second supporting document if asked |
Then:
- Edit business details if needed (Business settings → Business info)
- Start verification again / continue
- Upload better documents
- Confirm connection method again
