Connect with Meta

This is step 2 of 3. Here you connect Utter to your Meta (Facebook) Business account so WhatsApp can be enabled for your company.

Connect your Meta Business Account screen

What this screen means

Utter and Meta work together. When you click Continue with Meta, a secure Meta window opens (this is called Embedded Signup). You stay in the Utter onboarding flow — you are not installing anything yourself.

Inside Meta’s window you can:

  • Create a new Facebook / WhatsApp Business account, or select an existing one
  • Set a display name and description for your WhatsApp business profile
  • Connect and verify a phone number for WhatsApp API access

Important warning about your phone number

danger

Do not use a number already on WhatsApp Do not use a number that is currently connected to:

  • Personal WhatsApp
  • WhatsApp Business App

If the number is already on WhatsApp, you usually cannot finish registration for the WhatsApp Business API with that same number.

Use a dedicated business number (SIM or virtual line) that can receive an SMS or voice OTP, and that is not registered on WhatsApp yet.

How to connect (step by step)

  1. On the Utter screen, read the instructions and the phone-number warning
  2. Click Continue with Meta (blue button)
  3. A Meta / Facebook popup opens — log in with the account that should own this business
  4. Follow Meta’s screens. Typical prompts include:
    • Accept WhatsApp / Meta terms
    • Allow Utter access to your WhatsApp Business assets
    • Choose or create a business portfolio
    • Choose or create a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)
    • Enter your business phone number
    • Enter the OTP Meta sends by SMS or call
    • Confirm display name / profile details
  5. Click Finish / complete the last Meta screen
  6. The popup closes and Utter moves you to Verification
tip

Use the right Facebook account Log in as someone who is (or will be) an admin of the business portfolio. If you use a personal account with no admin rights, you may not be able to create or manage the WhatsApp Business Account.

What information Meta usually asks for

You may be asked for some or all of the following (exact screens can vary):

InformationExample
Facebook / Meta loginEmail/phone + password or saved session
Business portfolio nameYour company name
Business detailsAddress, website, country
WhatsApp display nameName customers see in WhatsApp (must follow Meta naming rules)
Phone numberCountry code + number free from WhatsApp
OTP verificationCode from SMS or voice call
Permissions for UtterAllow Utter to manage WhatsApp messaging for your account

Enter details that match your legal business documents and public website as closely as possible. Mismatches are a common reason Meta rejects or delays verification.

If the Meta popup closes early

  • You cancelled or closed the window → click Continue with Meta again
  • Login failed → check password, 2FA, or try another admin account
  • Phone OTP failed → request a new code, try voice call, or use a different eligible number
