Phone number
You need a phone number for WhatsApp Business API. Meta will send an OTP (SMS or voice call) during Connect with Meta.

Do not use a number already on WhatsApp The number must not be registered on:
- Personal WhatsApp
- WhatsApp Business App
If it is, you usually cannot finish API registration with that same number in the standard Utter flow.
What kind of number works

| Correct country code | Enter the right country when Meta asks |
| Not shared casually | Avoid numbers that change hands often |
Landlines, mobile SIMs, or some virtual numbers can work if they can receive the OTP Meta sends.
Prepare before you click Continue with Meta
- Have the handset / SMS inbox nearby
- Disable spam filters that might block Meta messages if possible
- Know the full number with country code
- If OTP fails, try voice call when Meta offers it
After OTP succeeds
Phone verification in Utter may show Verified, but you may still need:
- Meta business verification (documents)
- A payment method in WhatsApp Manager
